Hilltop was sent away from several Scout Movements in his youth, because "he wasn't challenged enough", as he later claimed. Camping in the hills and woods wasn't that exciting to him so he went off climbing and running in more dangerous areas while his fellow scouts stayed in the supervised base camp. Hilltop was advised to look for a job in the military because of his desire for adventure and action in the wild. Basic and mountain warfare training were pretty easy for him. Outback spotted him at a survival training, he invited Hilltop for some tests at the Joe team which were successfully completed.
