The reports must be a mistake. While giant snakes have been documented by the Adventure Team on occasion, the sighting of one in the frozen plateau of Antarctica seems preposterous. Still, on the commander's orders, the Frozen Biome Adventurer has been tasked to report on the mysterious sightings. Will he expose a hoax or discover something evil lurking in this snow bound wasteland?
The Frozen Biome Adventurer is a kit-bash with a few custom parts made from a single item. Many years ago I came across a tip from a man I know only as "Captain Fisher". He posted on a 21st Century Toys themed site a tip about using the cut finger from a knit glove for a 1/6th scale watch cap or turtleneck. I have used this tip often in my customizing but I really pulled the glove on for this custom. The uniform is a licensed product from the GI Joe Collector's Club and, while I liked it, I was disappointed that the jacket was cut too short. While a good white t-shirt filled the gap (pun intended) I still felt the uniform looked ill-fitting. In an attempt to make the figure more shelf-worthy, I got a pale gray knit child's glove and began to make a cap, turtleneck and sock (tops) using the fingers from the glove. For the cap, it's simply cut and rolled up at the edge. For the turtleneck, I cut the middle finger deep into the hand and cut the tip of the finger so the head can be pushed through. The finger part creates the neck while the long strips from the hand portion lie over the figure's chest and back looking more like a full sweater once the jacket is in place. The sock tops are just the finger with the tip cut off; pulled over the pant leg rolled and stuffed in the boot. Now, I was looking at the cuff of the glove and it occurred to me that I could add more to the sweater illusion by cutting off the cuff and putting it on around the figure's waist like a wide belt. This worked out perfect as the cuff covered the exposed part not covered by the jacket. It looked like a snug, yet heavy sweater worn under the jacket. I found this to be an excellent fix particularly after the other gear was in place. The other equipment was added and tailored to my tastes. Now here is one Adventurer who will not be freezing his gut off.
