Stacey's Heroes
Stacey's Heroes
About: Dreadnok Robbery Team

TEAM BIO: When Stacey's plan fell apart Oddball called in Zanzibar to assist with extraction. Zanzibar was thought Oddball's tank was loaded with gold bars and made the pickup and smuggled them back to The United States. After learning that they had been lied to about the payment, the Dreadnoks decided to use Stacey and his men to their advantage. The Dreadnok mechanics added an extra gatling gun and some new logos to the tank to make it their own. Now Stacey's Heroes have to do The Dreadnok's bidding or face the wrath of Zartan and Co.

Building Notes: I bought several of these desert camo Lanard The Corps tanks years ago. Painted this one green and added decals to make it Oddball's personal transport. Also added the special weapon speaker to really freak out the enemies.

The scapegoat for a badly planned mission, Clint Stacey was stripped of his ranking and demoted back to an infantryman. Upon arriving for his deployment in Trucial Abysmia, he met with a soldier that was once under his command. An older man, known as Oz, told him of the rumored Abysmian treasure stored in a bank vault located in a city near the Benzheen border. Stacey gathered a small team to make the grab, but things went wrong and now "Stacey's Heroes" owe The Dreadnoks for bailing them out of a bad situation.

Wanted to make my own version of Kelly's Heroes and it all starts with the role of Kelly. The head favors young Clint Eastwood enough for me so I went with it. The bio was a bit difficult because I had trouble finding a place for the group to fit in. So in the end I decided the plan failed and they needed to call on The Dreadnoks to extricate them from the situation.

A tank commander that had three Lanard tanks under his command and belonged to no company, Oddball directed his men to relax and ride out the conflict. Until he got wind of the bank job Clint Stacey was planning. He volunteered his three tanks and men along with himself to make the trip, because as he put it "three Lanard tanks provide a lot of persuasion." Oddball can take credit and the blame for contacting Zanzibar for the emergency extraction and owing their lives to The Dreadnoks.

Gotta love Donald Sutherland's character Oddball. Here is my version of him. Like the rest he is not meant to be an exact representation of the movie character. I've had the head in my parts drawer for a while now and couldn't get the right character for the job until now.

Oddball's top mechanic on the Lanard tanks. He always works better under stress in the field than he does in a garage. After the incident at the border Moriarty was left piloting one of the tanks as they made their way to the rendezvous with The Dreadnoks. As they made for the Benzheen border the road was blocked by the Trucial Abymsian Army. Moriarty sacrificed the tank to plow through the blockade. He abandoned the tank and caught a ride with Oddball for the final stretch.

He shares a name and specialty with the Kelly's Heroes character but that's it. This one kind of just came together to fill the void. I wanted him to be Oddball's right hand man and fully behind the situation they are in without realizing they are all in over their head.

\Adam Booker had been on GI Joe's recruitment list for several years before the Stacey Incident. Now the chance of joining the GI Joe team is very slim but as always he'll take the odds. Bookie had to take command of the the third tank after the ambush by the Trucial Abysmian Army. He was all alone in the tank when they reached the rendezvous and he was told they could take only one tank out. When GI Joe arrived on scene they found a note left in the seat simply saying "I'm Sorry".

I needed an artillery man and I wanted a betting man on the team. The legs have been modified and laying in my parts drawer for a long time now. I'm glad I finally found a use for them.

A true career soldier Oz had been passed over for every promotion for his entire time as a soldier, never rising above the enlisted ranks. He was under Stacey's command during the mission that earned Stacey his demotion. He knows nothing was Stacey's fault and that's why he offered the information about the Abysmian treasure. He also figured his share would make for a nice retirement nest egg. Too bad he'll never enjoy any time off now that he is working for The Dreadnoks.

The head got a lot of work on it. Years ago I had removed the hat and sculpted a bald head with Sculpey. Never finding a use for it, I added the horseshoe hair and muttonchops out of green stuff for this project. I wanted this guy to be lifetime vet looking for a quick buck.
