G.I. Joe Volume 1 #1
I've been planning this for a long time. Issue 1 is my favorite piece of GI Joe comic art, and I knew that this was the Famous Cover I wanted to do. I was really torn on this because I could have easily added all the comic info in Photoshop. But I wanted to have something tangible, something that would make a good display piece.

Comic pack Flash was done several years ago, before the Comic Pack Group Project. There are a few Original 13 characters that Hasbro hasn't made (Grandslam) and a few that didn't work for me (Flash, Clutch, and Steeler).

Originally I was going to use a large piece of posterboard to do a curved background, with a flat piece of acetate on the front with the comic info. However, it would have been too large. Using plywood did the trick, however I didn't compensate for the upward angle needed for photos, and the walls are not tall enough in the back, but I fixed this with a piece of foam core for the photographs. The explosions, clouds, and comic info were printed on card stock and cut out. The explosions in the sky and Hawk are suspended with clear styrene rods. Hawk also has fishing line holding him in place. The comic info was spray glued to the inside face of the plexiglass.

Steeler

Before the Steeler comic pack was released, Toy Fare magazine had a picture of the figure that was made from Hawk parts, which I thought looked much better than the Mace figure that was used for him and Clutch.
