Johnny Bravo

For the Backpedaling GP, I went through all my WIP stuff. Many of them were meant to be made for past GP's and NJC's. I soon decided Johnny Bravo would be the custom that I wanted to finish.

Johnny Bravo is a cartoon character that comes from the Hanna-Barbera production company and was broadcasted on Cartoon Network. It aired at the end of my puberty, Johnny quickly became my favorite cartoon hero of that time. I don't think a cartoon ever made me laugh more that this one. Now that I think of it, it still does!
If you don't know the show, I highly recommend you go check it out on Youtube right away. You will not be disappointed in the funny lines the muscular, Elvis-voiced womanizer uses to hit on women.

This entry would fit into the NJC #77: Hanna-Barbera.

Of all parts that I needed for this custom, the head would be the most distinguishable because of Johnny Bravo's unique hairstyle. That head would also need a pair of sunglasses. A combination of both that comes close to Johnny Bravo would make things easier, creating the Cartoon Network macho man. Street Fighter Guile has hair that would need some modifying, but I'd need to sculpt the sunglasses as well. Not an easy job, plus I don't like the the (too) angry grin on his face.
Another figure from another fighting game made a better base to start with: Johnny Cage. Besides sharing the same first name, he also wears the same kind of sunglasses and has a strong jawline, things that are pretty unmistakable when you look at Johnny Bravo.
I tried to sculpt the hair in pretty much the same way as he wears it in the cartoon. That might look simple, but it actually took me several hours. I also had to create two small whiskers.
Lastly I made the ends of the short sleeves on the upper arms.
