In honor of the GI Joe conventions stop over in Cleveland on the same weekend of the annual Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction, a very unique convention set was selected for production. As some of the inductees for that year, the German rock band, the Scorpions, were a well known and very popular band in Cold War Europe. What most people do not know, however, is that during their time touring Europe and Asia, and especially the Soviet Union, they were acting as couriers for the CIA. Smuggling information and documents across borders, and occasionally hiding a random defector in amongst their crew, the Scorpions were a tremendous help to the cause of Democracy.

Herman Rarebell was also reluctant to go along with the other's plan to work for the CIA. Politically, he was unsure of where his loyalties should lie, being a deeply rooted German patriot. He grudgingly went along until the band's first visit to Soviet Russia, and he saw the conditions that the working class in Stalingrad lived in that he changed his mind and fully bought into their plan.

These customs are ones that I had set out to do many years ago when I first started making customs. Over all, I am only a little pleased with how they came out. Because some of the instruments took so much work to get right, some of the figures suffered a rush job in some areas. But this was a lot of fun to work on once the end result was all finished.

The drums are probalby what I am most pleased with from this project. They are remarkably lightweight, and pretty fragile, but they look super cool. I just wish I could have made some more cymbals.
