After the G.I. Joe was disbanded the now free-lance mercenary Mercer, began doing some jobs with Deadpool. After G.I. Joe was reinstated Deadpool was more than happy to free lance work with the Joes. The "merc with a mouth" seems, for reasons unknown, to hold a personal grudge against the Cobra saboteur known as Firefly.
