After Action Report - Ultra Top Secret

Sometime after morning roll call the new recruit Hot-Shot was bragging about his piloting skills and that he could "fly through the rings of Uranus". Senior ranking officers Space Shot and Payload quickly dismissed the talk as joking bravado because the improbability of safely navigating through such an asteroid field are 3720 to 1.

At approximately 0620 the Avenger scout was launched from the Crusader docking bay as part of a routine maintenance check. Indicators aboard the Crusdaor showed that velocity was increasing beyond the normal maintanance run. When hailed, the pilot, Hot-Shot, stated he was "Just stretching out her wings a little." At this point Space Shot relayed the message along with his concerns to mission commander Payload. Payload then ordered Hot-Shot, "That ship better be back in the bay before I get there." Static was heard right before the Avenger went radio silent.

At 0650 long range telescopes show the Avenger entering the asteroid belt of Uranus. 0651, two asteroids collided in front of the Avengers trajectory. One of the ricocheting asteroids struck the Avenger knocking it off course. A third and fourth asteroid collided catching the Avenger in the middle.

0713, the first rescue crew led by Robo Joe arrived on scene. The wreckage of the Avenger was recovered, but there were no signs of Hot-Shot. Attempts to track his space suit's beacon proved unsuccessful. It is believed he jetisoned at some point and that his remains drifted into the depths of Uranus.

As soon as I picked out the parts it was pretty obvious I had to do a space man of some kind. The idea to make him a space ghost came about because of the work nova is doing with his glow in the dark Zartan and skulls. I had the Major Tom scene from Venture Brothers running through my head while I was making him too.

Once I realized I could use a backpack for a power source I moved away from glow in the dark and went to light up feature instead. The leads run from the jetpack and plug into holes in the figure's back. There they touch the LED leads running down from the head through the neck. This allows the head to still move about freely and the backpack to be removed for play.

The mission patch on the chest is based on the old Lego space logo. That is actually a pic of Uranus with a whited out Avenger scout ship crossing in front of it. My geekiness has no bounds.
