Sewer

This dio piece is a sewer. Sewers always seem be be part of a sneaky mission. Reading many of the Marvel Joe comics, having a team sneak through the sewers always seemed like the thing to do--ie Tunnel Rat, Falcon, Capt. Mihn sneaking through the sewers on Cobra Island. This sewer could also be a drainage or utility tunnel under office buildings. A tunnel or sewer could also be a great place for an ambush.

I was inspired to build this sewer by two things: 1) seeing Violentfix's sewer dio page using a mailing tube http://www.violentfix.com/cobra/dio-creation/tunnel.htm and 2) having about 6 feet of green plastic pipe sitting in my garage and wondering what to do with it.

Construction was pretty easy on this sewer. Once the proper PVC pipe fittings were found, it became a matter of marking the cut lines and using a reciprocating saw to cut the opening. Once the opening was cut, the piano hinge was attached and the excess screw length dremeled off. Green pipe was then primed with some cheap white paint. Once dry, the concrete/stone paint was applied. It really goes on smooth and looks very realistic. After this was laying out the placement for the christmas lights and taping them in to stay in place.

I wish that I had used a larger diameter pipe. 4" pipe with a 3.75" Joe does not leave a lot of room for standing, especially if a figure stand is used. I also would have used a longer piano hinge. Twelve inches is not long enough to hold open a half section of pipe.

The two best parts about this whole project were one, attempting something I have never done before with some measure of success and two, doing it with my three year old son who sure tried to help every step of the way!
