When Cobra Commander decided to form the Nightmares, he informed all the Ice Viper regiments to pick one Ice Viper from their regiment. These Ice Vipers would compete to decide "The best of the best". Each of the twelve regiments picked a competitor. SnowSnowman was very bitter that he was only the second choice of his regiment. Later that night, he caught his regiments competitor while no one else was around. Snowman proceeded to break both of the competitors legs, then threatened that if there was even a rumor of how it actually happened and if the competitor didn't drop out of the competition, that he would break the rest of the competitors body one piece at a time. The twelve candidates were then informed of what the competition consisted of. It basically pushed all of their skills to the max in a four part race. The race consisted of cold weather HALO jumping, swimming/diving, survival, emergency vehicle repair, and arctic transportation driving. The race started with at HALO jump from 25, 000 feet on the edge of russia. Upon landing, the vipers prepare to swim the bering straight to alaska. Of the twelve, only ten proceeded across the straighten and of those ten only four completed the swim. Upon reaching the shore, fighting hypothermia, the vipers were allowed only four hours to rest and warm up if that was possible. Three competitors were left at the start of the 45 mile hike to reach their vehicles. These vehicles were personally picked by the ice vipers, but were allowed to be gutted by the Dreadnoks. When the Ice Vipers reached their vehicles, they were $kind="projects";required to make their vehicles operational in order to traverse the next 100 miles of ice covered terrain. Snowman reached his vehicle 45 minutes aft erh the other two. He had his jeep (which he built during his techno viper training) done nearly an hour before either of the others. Although the vehicle had no heat or lights and was only running on 6 of its 8 cylinders, he covered the hundred miles under three hours. Snowman was the only Ice Viper to complete the course. Even though one of the other Ice Vipers did get his rig running, he got stuck around the halfway point.

From Cobra Commanders Files: "I knew he was the right man to represent the Ice Vipers in the Nightmares. At the end of the race, he was very cocky in giving his victory speech and announced that he would no longer answer to the name "Snowman" . He would from now on be called Abominable."

The Jeep started with a basic vamp body. I added the wheels from some large metal bronco. The roof and the box were made primarily from pieces of Fort America, that I have been cutting up anyway. The doors were made out of random plastic. I experimented with some fiberglass body putty to shape the box and the roof, but although it did work it wasn't easy enough to make it worth while.
