Robo-Joe was nearly killed in the line of duty. It was only through the use of the advanced cybernetics he was working on that his life was saved. Since then he has worked with the G.I. Joe team to develop life-saving applications for his robotic creations as well as non-lethal weapons. After the "robot rebellion", Robo-Joe began working full time on counter-B.A.T. technology to assist the G.I. Joe team in defeating this new metal menace. While he would rather see his talents go to use helping crippled children walk, Robo-Joe knows that the work he is doing will help give those same children a safer world to walk in. Robo-Joe spends nearly all of his time in the research labs, working with Rock 'n' Roll testing new equipment.

The basic idea for this figure was to update Robo-Joe and bring him into the 21st century. Using the B.A.T. arms allows for future customization of other weapons and attachments. The lab coat was added to tie into the scientist part of his character.
