The origin of GI Joe goes back beyond 1982. In 1964 GI Joe was a military style action doll. It was 12 inches in height. Later on in the 1970s GI Joe stepped away from the military and entered into the world of adventure. There were different action dolls each with a unique style. GI Joe was to be known as Adventure Team. They included "The Man Of Action", "Land Adventurer", "Air Adventurer", "Sea Adventurer", etc. The GI Joes of 1970 were made with a unique feature, life like hair aka frocking. The hair and beard and a fuzzy texture make them unique and different from any other toy.
In tribute to the original Land Adventurer (and as an experiment) I have decided to recreate the GI Joe Land Adventurer. I used lint (removed from the inside of a sweatshirt) and superglue to recreate the classic beard and fuzzy hair. The first photo shows the comparisson between the original GI Joe Adventure Team Land Adventurer and my ARAH custom upgrade version.
