I know we’re nearing (or possibly at) the end of the line here, but I’ve loved this site so much over the past 20-some years, and I wanted to post a few last customs as a farewell to the old place. I hope this isn’t the last post in the Customs section, because there are people who’ve been consistently turning out incredible work that deserve to remain at the top of the page forever. But I’ve been sitting on these customs for years now, and I wanted them to see the light of day.

John Eagle:

Head: Retaliation Kwinn
Chest: PoC Snake-Eyes
Arms: PoC Snake-Eyes
Hands: Retaliation Kwinn
Waist: Slaughter’s Marauders Low-Light
Legs: Slaughter’s Marauders Low-Light
Boots: 25th Breaker

Backpack: 25th Beachhead
Bandolier: Marvel Universe Longshot
Watch Cap: Marauder Inc.
Submachine Gun: Marauder Inc.
Crossbow: 25th Beachhead
Pistol: Marvel figure, I think

This guy was intended for the Knockoffs GP. I didn’t finish him in time, but I do really like how he turned out.

Protector:

ImageProtector 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr
ImageProtector 2 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: Marauder Inc.
Chest: 30th Steel Brigade Delta
Upper Arms: 30th Steel Brigade Delta
Lower Arms: 50th Spirit
Gloves: 50th Flint
Upper Legs: 30th Steel Brigade Delta
Lower Legs: Resolute Duke
Kneepads: Resolute Duke
Boots: 25th Duke

Helmet: PoC Clutch
Goggles: Remco U.S. Forces Protector
Webgear: 25th Grunt
Rifle: Marauder Inc.

This guy has some personal meaning to me. My childhood best friend and I painted one of his Remco figures in this color scheme, including a painted-on beard, and that figure became one of the most-used guys in our adventures. I wanted to make an updated version of that early custom. This guy was also intended as a submission for the for the Knockoffs GP, but didn’t get finished in time.

Hawk:

ImageHawk 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

ImageHawk 3 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: GIJCC Night Force Falcon
Chest: GIJCC Night Force Steeler
Upper Arms: GIJCC Night Force Steeler
Lower Arms: 25th Tiger Force Duke with GIJCC Law forearms
Hands: Retaliation Snake-Eyes
Upper Legs: GIJCC Night Force Chuckles
Lower Legs: GIJCC Night Force Chuckles
Feet: RoC PIT Commando

Webgear: 25th Dusty
Rifle: Planet Green Valley
Pistol: Marauder Inc.

This custom was made (or at least started) shortly after the Night Force con set was released, so using these parts wasn’t quite as crazy then as it would be now. Looking back, it’s probably the most expensive custom I’ve ever made, since both the Night Force Steeler and Chuckles figures sell for ridiculous amounts of money now. But I’m still happier having this custom. This figure was part of an unfinished Original 13 set that was intended to be sort of a midway point between the old designs and a more modern look. After re-reading a bunch of the comics, I developed a new appreciation for Hawk as a character, and I wanted a figure that reflected the field-leader guy that he was in the early Marvel run.

Clutch:

ImageClutch 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr
ImageClutch 2 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: Marauder Inc.
Chest: RoC Thunder (or Thunderblast, or whatever they called him in that line)
Arms: Retaliation Mouse with Marauder forearms
Hands: 50th Eel
Waist: Retaliation Mouse
Upper Legs: Retaliation Beachhead
Lower Legs: Retaliation Beachhead
Boots: RoC Zartan in disguise
Feet: RoC PIT Commando

Shoulder Holster: 30th Hawk with BBI holster
Submachine Gun: Marauder Inc.
Pistols: Marauder Inc.

The 84 Clutch has been one of my favorite figures ever since I got the Vamp Mk.II as an early Christmas present that year. I’ve made a few Clutch customs (he’s always been a favorite character, too), but I always based them on the 82 green version. For the unfinished Original 13 set I was making, I wanted to update my beloved 84 version.

Snake-Eyes:

ImageSnake-Eyes 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr
ImageSnake-Eyes 2 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: 25th Snake-Eyes
Chest: PoC Snake-Eyes
Arms: PoC Snake-Eyes
Hands: 50th Eel
Upper Legs: PoC Snake-Eyes
Lower Legs: PoC Snake-Eyes with Night Force Steeler knees

Webgear: 25th Snake-Eyes with 25th Steeler belt
Shoulder Bag: PoC Clutch with RoC Firefly multitool
Submachine Gun: Marauder Inc.
Pistol: Marauder Inc.

This guy is basically an LBC, but he turned out exactly as intended. He was another figure from my unfinished Original 13 set, and given how many Snake-Eyes figures were made in the modern era, it wasn’t too hard to find the parts. This custom was intended to update the 82 Snake-Eyes figure.

A few more stragglers:

Starduster:

ImageStarduster 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr
ImageStarduster 2 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: Marauder Inc.
Chest: Retaliation Firefly with 30th Steel Brigade turtleneck
Arms: Retaliation Firefly
Hands: Retaliation Joe Trooper
Upper Legs: 30th Law
Lower Legs: 30th Law with PoC Snake-Eyes kneepads
Feet: 30th Skydive

Jetpack: 25th JUMP (not sure which figure this colorway came with)
Control Stick: VvV wrist thingy with joystick from a Force Awakens accessory
Harness: Marauder Inc.
Helmet: 25th figure
Grenade Launcher: Retaliation Joe trooper
Pistol: Marauder Inc.

Starduster was one of my favorite figures as a kid, and I’ve always loved his color scheme. But I wanted to make a version that fit in with my modern-ish Original 13 figures. I liked the idea of him wearing a flight jacket, and the colors of the Law legs match up pretty nicely with the Retaliation Firefly upper body.

Alpine:

ImageAlpine 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr
ImageAlpine 2 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: RoC Ripcord
Chest: Retaliation Beachhead
Arms: Retaliation Beachhead
Hands: 50th Eel
Waist: 25th Hawk
Upper Legs: PoC Beachhead
Lower Legs: PoC Beachhead
Feet: Crimson Strike Grunt

Helmet: BBI figure
Webgear: VvV Snake-Eyes
Rope: 50th Storm Shadow, I think
Belt: 25th Hit & Run with straps from PoC Snake-Eyes
Crampons: 25th Arctic Snake-Eyes
Submachine Gun: Marauder Inc.
Pistol: Marauder Inc.
Ice Axe: PoC Destro

I loved Alpine as a kid, and I wanted to add him to my updated (and extended) Original 13 set.

Beachhead:

ImageBeachhead 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr
ImageBeachhead 2 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: Resolute Beachhead
Chest: DG Shipwreck
Arms: DG Shipwreck
Hands: Retaliation Snake-Eyes
Waist: 25th Hawk
Upper Legs: PoC Beachhead
Lower Legs: PoC Beachhead

Webgear: Retaliation Beachhead
Rifle: Marauder Inc.
Pistol: Marauder Inc.

Beachhead was never a favorite of mine as a kid, but I’ve enjoyed making customs of him over the years. I wanted to keep the basic aesthetics of the original, but give him a more modern-ish update.

Mainframe:

ImageMainframe 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr
ImageMainframe 2 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: Boss Fight Studios knight
Chest: 50th Hit & Run
Upper Arms: 50th Hit & Run
Lower Arms: 50th Sightline
Hands: PoC Shock Trooper
Upper Legs: 50th Hit & Run
Lower Legs: 50th Sightline
Feet: Slaughter’s Marauders Low-Light

Helmet: Retaliation Flint w/ Marauder microphone
Harness: DG Duke
Backpack: 25th Firefly
Computer: RoC Breaker
Rifle: Marauder Inc.
Pistol: Marauder Inc.

Mainframe wasn’t a favorite figure as a kid, but that issue of the comic where he and Dusty infiltrate a Terrordrome always stuck in my mind. I wanted to give him a little update, and I ended up liking this custom quite a bit.

Bullhorn:

ImageBullhorn 1 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr
ImageBullhorn 2 by Snaggletooth Customs, on Flickr

Head: Retaliation Flint
Chest: Avatar Selfridge
Upper Arms: Resolute Duke
Lower Arms: Retaliation Flint
Waist: RoC Snake-Eyes
Upper Legs: PoC Cobra Commander
Lower Legs: PoC Cobra Commander
Feet: Indiana Jones Belloq

Vest: 30th Law
Rifle Case: 50th Destro
Gas Mask: Marauder Inc.
Phone: Marauder Inc.
Pistol: Marauder Inc.

1990 was one of my favorite years of the Joe line; I love so many figures from that wave. Bullhorn was one of the coolest figures that year, and I had been wanting to make a custom of him forever. I wanted a version that played up the negotiator angle a bit more.
